Marcus Dresden is making his way through his first novel. He has assured me the end is just around the corner. He has also helped me to understand the journey he has been on. The highs and the lows. At times he has made his way forward timidly (he didn’t actually say that cause he’s too tough to admit it). Other times though he’s moved with the skill and cunning only a retired Navy SEAL can. I’ve been fortunate to witness a handful of his adventures so far. I’m here to tell you there will be no need for Monster drinks or triple espressos to make your way through this book. Dresden was reluctant to come out of the gate in the beginning. Happy in his retirement. But… now, thanks to some unfortunate events (of course we can’t have a story without them, right?) Dresden was motivated to get on his horse and ride. A big thanks goes out to some good friends that kept him on the straight and narrow. A cast of characters, as Dresden says that make the day to day grind of hunting down a maniacal killer and his lunatic handler a little easier to gut out.

The writing process has been a joy to learn and develop. Something I feel has allowed me to bring so many aspects of my creative nature to bear. The self-publishing learning curve has been steep and furiously fast. But like writing, publishing seems to have a rhythm to it. An aesthetic. An art. I have discovered it’s as elastic as writing is. No stodgy cookie cutter models to follow. No blustering business types blathering on about pie charts and graphs. Simply guidelines and pathways. And most of all an amazing group of super motivated fellow authors willing to climb out of their writing caves to help!  I have learned an amazing amount in just the last couple of years. I owe a great debt to a lot of folks. I’m going to only mention a couple here. Thanks to Rick Campbell for answering my call. Thanks to the dynamic duo of Andrew Watts and Jason Kasper for their honesty, integrity and inspiration!

I hope you enjoy the blog, facebook posts and come September (maybe a little earlier) the first in a series, of many MARCUS DRESDEN thrillers – WAVES OF DECEPTION.
